Student Spotlight – Mykl C. Greene

Empowering students with knowledge and skills.

Mykl C. Greene

NTU BS Student

“Born & raised on Navajo Nation after going to Seattle and other places to get a BS, I came back to give back… I am now a STREAM HS teacher. I could not have continued in higher education without NTU & NSF giving me this opportunity.”

Skills

CPS: When asked to solve an issue with water on the Hopi Nation instead of telling them to use the cookie cutter rainwater systems & most efficient ‘newest’ devices made in California I designed an on-demand water filtration system that utilizes grey water, rainwater, & separate blackwater systems in two packages that are a bit bigger than ice-chests. CFC: As a teacher at a HS teaching physics, statistics, computer programming, & additive manufacturing I have been able to help students learn from NASA astronauts, help teachers learn from students, & help administrators learn from teachers & community members. I have also worked in the medical field, investigations, commercial, & industrial fields. DA&I: At SMIS HS I have been the Principle-Investigator & director for collating educational data analysis … basically preparing reports to let teachers, administrators, & community members how well programs are doing & informing them where we need improvements (mostly in the form of pie graphs & pretty 3D charts). Adaptability: I have worked in several fields, with several technologies, & am highly adaptive to working independently, in groups, & also in hybrid online/in-person settings… a skill I honed during COVID.

Software

OSs Windows, MacOS, Linux, DOS. CAD-Software: TinkerCAD, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Skulptris… OFFICE: Microsoft, Google, Kingsoft… HTML/CODING: MIT-Scratch, Python, Ruby, JAVA, HTML+… GRAPHICS/VIDEO: OBS-Studios, FL Studio, Zoom, MS-TEams, MS-Paint, DeepAI, CO-Pilot, DuckAI… and more. I mostly work with Apple but know more than most on Windows and love to dable in Arch-Linux with Cinnamon Desktop.

Experience

NSF REU – 2005 Research for Undergraduate Students with UC Berkeley & NAU (Biology field research, Informed consent pychology research, & grant writing under Dr. Pamela Eibeck & Dr. Larry Stevens). 2025 Tutor, Intern, & now possibly Teaching assistant with Navajo Technical University & possible enrollment into the Doctoral T-CUP grant continuation… fingers crossed & lots of prayers.
